Be My Valentine

Groundhog’s Day each year is not just a sign of how much longer winter will be… No, for the Clarke girls February 2nd is also a reminder that we must begin making Valentines!

Yes folks, in the Clarke house we follow the practice of homemade valentines. This of course is more time consuming than store-bought fun, but thank goodness my girls (well at least Kirsten) has the patience to craft with me.

A quick brainstorming session with Kirsten & Julia generated this list…

Valentine’s Day is:
Hearts
Valentines
Candy
Hugs
Flowers
Kisses
Fun

With some help from Google and Pinterest, the keywords Valentine’s Day, kisses and lips, led us to this adorable idea, which was easily replicated with some red and brown cardstock and simple tags printed on white paper.

I also had to share the Valentine’s treats made for Julia’s kindergarten class. I'll let you in on my super time saver… boxed cake mix and canned frosting... GASP!  Listen, 5 and 6 years could care less! We of course spent the time fancying them up with red food coloring in the batter, pink and white twist frosting, and the piece de resistance… a big, fat, heart shaped strawberry cream peep!
